Disclaimers: No one and nothing here is mine.

Spoilers/Timeline: Mostly vague and AU-ized references to older storylines. Takes place not long after "War Games."

Summary: There is careful, and then there is careful *enough*.

Ratings Note/Warnings: Sexual content which mostly doesn't have a damned thing to do with the content some readers may find disturbing.

Author's Note: A closer-to-real sequel to ending two of A way so familiar. Will not make sense without the other.

Acknowledgments: Pixie and Mildred asked very nicely, and then joined Jack for audiencing duties. *hugs all around*

    yet more beef(cake)

Okay, this one is funnier and pornier. Clearly, bad pick-up lines are more to my muse's taste than AU scenarios. Color me surprised.

I employ the Jaja icon for obvious reasons.

HikaGo rec: Opening Move, by Ravenna C Tan (Ogata/Touya)
Opening Move, by Ravenna C Tan #
Ogata/Touya, NC-17, under 1000 words. Summary: Touya receives an unexpected lesson from his senpai.

Ravenna wrote this ficlet for me and it's designed to hit all my HikaGo rare pairing kinks :) Paraphrasing my comment to the author, awwwwww! It's Ogata/Touya! It's so lovely! And it's for meeee! I do wonder how Ravenna manages to combine detached with hot and make lovely things without shmoop.

If you like Ogata, go try it!

    birthday and arguably new frontiers
It's my birthday! To celebrate, I...expanded my RPF repertoire to Texans. Okay, so I did that a few days ago and have just been lazy about posting it here, but also, I was kind of hoping to enter the CWRPS fray with something either screamingly funny or unapologetically raunchy (my Id epic for this fandom, because I have at least one for pretty much every fandom I've ever read: thirtysomethingphotographer!Jeff, twentysixyearoldmodel!Jared, his promiscuous and globe-trotting lover, and nineteenyearoldbabymodel!Jensen, who Jared talks Jeff into mutually seducing [not that it takes much persuasion, Jeff's already all secretly yearning], and aren't you sorry you never asked?). Anyway, this little tidbit is neither of those things, but people were amused, and eventually I'll get around to cross-posting.

Still adding words to my Broken Toys story. I need to rewatch me some Dark Angel to pull in details, then get the draft busted out so I have a clear plate in case of needed pinch hitting. Six people have reported in on their Nuna Exchange stories, so that's half the participants. I'm really hoping the other half come through, as I am not so confident in my ability to pull 500 words of DBSK fic out of my brain right now. The fandom is pissing me off big-time, and the boys are under a huge amount of stress, and I just want to whisk them off to a private island for a little secluded R&R. Which actually isn't all that different from my usual attitude toward them, so there you go.

Still watching for a Yuletide pinch hit or two to pick up, but I've been sick and busy at work and haven't even had the wherewithal to wrangle for the past few days, so I need to catch up on that. Right now, this next week looks slightly less full. ::knocks on wood::

I did manage to shave some kilobytes off a few of my animated icons and upload them, though. Still working on the rest, but the only ways I know to cut file size involve methods that make said rest look like ass, so. May have to come up with another option, but at least I have my Yoosu goofiness again, and it might even work better with the one panel shaved off the front. It changes the rhythm and emphasizes the pelvic thrust, which is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

Animated film rec: 9, sort of vs. Dragon Hunters
    9 9 []
Rated PG-13 for violence and scary images.
    Runtime: 79 minutes.
    Director: Shane Acker
Summary: When 9 first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.

My notes: BFF ordered me to watch this film 'cos she had seen a couple of scenes from it and fell in love with the visuals. So I did.

I liked it fine, especially the visual side, yes. Landscapes, the dolls, those factories and machines. If you like steampunk, go for it! I did find it very, very pleasant for the eyes. Not quite an eye candy 'cos it's all greyish-brownish and raw and dusty but it looks really nice.

I even liked the story for the most part. It's quite charming, and the story of a small individual becoming a hero in order to save the world, figuring things out, gathering courage and strength, well, it's cliché of course but it's a sure win as far as modern action/adventure goes. But at the same time, I found it annoying. I mean, if you have such a well-established heroic cliché, there's no need to make it even more cliché by making the villain a Hitler in such a non-metaphorical way. I mean, sometimes it's OK to believe that your spectators aren't completely stupid, so there's no need to put things in their mouth and chew for them. Sometimes you can create a more far-fetched metaphor, say, as Tolkien did in LotR or as Hiromu Arakawa does in Fullmetal Alchemist, and your audience will get it. Or on the contrary: make him Hitler, no a Hitler-like something. Don't dance around trying to side-step every dangerous thing.

Another thing that annoyed me was 7 at the very end of it. The dolls are more or less sexless, more boy/men-like than girl/woman-like but whatever. I liked it that the story wasn't about love, that it wasn't about how family saves everything -- which, let's be frank, Hollywood feeds us so much as to make one want to stay single forever. But then [spoiler]7 acquired some distinctly lady-like expressions, nearly batting eyelashes. WTF? Will they now hold hand and knit baby dolls or something?[/end spoiler]

And this leads me to the following. I liked Dragon Hunters much better (my review). They are seemingly nothing alike, Dragon Hunters and 9. It's just that they both are about small people saving the world and that something in the animation looks similar to me. So, while I'm ready to rave about Dragon Hunters for ages, this review is about 9 and regretfully, I'm not prepared to squeal about it. Yes, I enjoyed it. Yes, it's a real pleasure for the eyes. But I expected more. The animation made me expect more originality from the plot, and it might be completely my fault that I was so ready to fall in love but in the end, merely liked it. But like it I did. Give it a try!

    Naruto Bleach-style!
This is bloody awesome! Naruto, Bleach-style from Naruto 10th Anniversary Special Fanbook 2 (Via [info]lyssaphra and Bleach newsletter).

And this clearly shows why I love Bleach better than Naruto (although I like Naruto too): among other things, it's simply a question of art style preferences. If Naruto were drawn this way, I'd fall head over heels for it despite its first 20 volumes :D

    Alive!
Yes, alive. Tired as *fuck*, but alive. Here at casa del Te and Jack, all is a whirlwind of doctors, med adjustments, home repairs, family-wrangling (AHHH AHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH), and holiday PTSD. We're coping, though, and all the wonderful notes and updates y'all have been sending along have been wonderful. The important stuff:

    1. There is one shameless snippet and one shameless-in-a-completely-different-way story due to be posted as soon as I can (somehow) suck it up and deal. I'll try to get those up by Monday, but it could be hard.

    2. As it happens, I *did* get sucked back into working on original fic, and I have no idea how long that will last before I'm working on other things again. Personally, I'm hoping that I can damned well *finish* the two original novels in the hopper, since basically what I have complete now is the middle story in a trilogy. (Well, okay, there'll be a fourth book, too. And maybe a fifth.) That's fucking *annoying*.

    3. Snippets will come *someday*, damn it. I'll keep y'all posted.

(Chaotic Koreans, wee!Daeja love and elevator mishaps, app. 1270 words)
Some first meetings make the earth tremble. Mostly because they took place in an elevator and somebody stumbled.
Author's Notes: This is not traineefic, this is pre-traineefic, because I am sick and Mousi asked while I was in the right (or wrong) frame of mind to do it. Audienced by Eliza. For the Mousi!
